I WANNA ROCK!
I love to look at old photo’s or video and look past what it was I was trying to capture and look at all that is going on in the background. Look past Brad here and you will see the Steel Panther was at the HOB the day we were filming Brad in San Diego. Now I look back and wish I had went. If you have never clicked on the links I’ve posted, or even gotten past the second sentence in my blog you will not want to miss this one. It’s worth it. As was the week I spent filming Brad and making up skits about messenger life.
One person in the film that doesn’t get the respect they deserve is poet messenger Kurt Boone. He gives it his all, all day on foot delivering packages, and still finds time, energy and passion to pursue his poetry at night. I got a lot of video on the subway with Kurt during his workday and thought this still summed it all up.
I tried to stay true to the documentary format. But in the “spirit” of The Endless Summer I incorporated some skits to capture more information about the messenger life and style in a condensed fashion. What might have taken 3 months and 30 minute in the film to convey could be staged and captured in 3 minutes. This lotto ticket I made up for one of my skits. It’s hard to read, but my slogan is “We can’t get rich if you don’t play.” I thought it funny.
